Tall Ship Semester for
Girls
In October 2001, eighteen women will board the schooner Californian for an
adventure vacation with a purpose: to benefit the scholarship fund of the Tall
Ship Semester for Girls. This voyage offers adult women full days and stunning
nights at sea aboard a traditional tall ship. Starting and returning to San
Francisco Bay, the ship will explore California coastal ports. For information

Women's Sports Foundation
Awards
On October 15, 2001 the Women's Sports Foundation hosts its 22nd Annual Salute
to Women in Sports Awards Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. The highlight of
the evening will be the announcement of the 2001 Sportswomen of the Year Award.
The Billie Jean King Contribution Award and the Wilma Rudolph Courage Award will
also be given out and new members will be inducted into the International
Women's Sports Hall of Fame. Over 100 current and former Olympic and champion
athletes will be in attendance including Billie Jean King, Jackie Joyner-Kersee,
Teresa Edwards, Jeanette Lee, Michelle Akers, Julie Foudy, Gail Devers and Geena
Davis. Prior to the dinner, the Foundation will host girls' sports clinics with
numerous athletes at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. For more information on the
