EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Scott Bradley hopes that's not his last memory of an NFL game. Bradley intercepted Tim Hasselbeck deep in his own territory in the final minute, helping the New York Jets post a 23-16 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in the preseason finale for both teams. A rookie linebacker out of Boston College who is hoping to secure a roster spot, Bradley found himself in the right place at the right time in the game's final moments. On 4th-and-goal from inside the Jets 5, Hasselbeck had his pass deflect off the hands of tight end Tony Stewart and cornerback Andrew Davison before the ball fell into Bradley's arms. Chad Pennington, who went the rest of the way after Vinny Testaverde played the first series, completed 13-of-27 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown for the Jets. Pennington's TD pass was a 36-yarder to Ataveus Cash in the second quarter that gave New York a 10-3 lead. The Jets (4-0), who completed an unbeaten exhibition campaign, open the regular season on September 8 at Buffalo. Like the Jets, the Eagles went primarily with reserves as star quarterback Donovan McNabb sat out. The most interesting thing for the Eagles was the battle for the third-string job between Hasselbeck and A.J. Feeley. Hasselbeck was 12-of-14 for 80 yards and an interception while Feeley went 14-of-20 for 188 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Philadelphia (1-3) opens the season on September 8 at Tennessee. |
