The New York Yankees continue holding the top spot in the postseason ranking, followed by the Atlanta Braves, who led the majors in regular-season wins. The New York Mets, the NL wild card team, jumps up to third after reaching the NLCS. AL Central champion Cleveland, which held the No. 1 spot for two months in the regular season, dropped to fifth after losing to Boston in the Division Series.
